A Press Release by the NANS Chairman of Enugu state.

Of the greatest Nigerian students!
I greet us all doggedly and fundamentally in the name of God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the awesome God of David.
I sincerely want to thank the students of Enugu state for the peace and tranquility that has existed in the state and for their high sense of maturity and patriotism. Also, I must thank the various students leaders, SUG presidents of the various institutions, Joint Campus committee executives, NANS leaders and stakeholders of the state for the co-existence and oneness that we have been enjoying and we will continue to enjoy in the state.
After my inauguration as the NANS JCC chairman of the state, in my first press release I made it lucid that we are cut out to protect the interest and improve the welfare of Enugu students. I want to let us no that we have not reneged on our promises.
In this regard, we have taken bold steps to stamp our presence in the state and better the lives of our dear students. It should be noted that my very "paramount" concern is to restore the lost dignity of students and unionism in the state and this we have tackled head long.
Firstly, WE have delved into the crisis rocking one of our campuses(UNEC) that has made the school to be under lock and key for over 40days. WE are making headway and we are assuring the students of UNEC that the matter will be resolved amicably once the Vice Chancellor returns from his trip.
Next, we took bold steps to engage our amiable governor, His Excellency, Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and we discussed on the need for the state government to partner with the students for the overall best interest of all. We must really say that we are impressed with the leadership of the state and We have passed a vote of 100% confidence on the governor. Yes! We are humbled by the governor's humility and his regard for the students of the state.
Part of what we discussed the governor has started implementing already and they include:
1. Improvement of students-government relationship.
2. Provision of state bursaries and scholarships.
3. Improvement of students security in and out of campuses.
4. Provision of brand new buses for each campus and one bus for NANS
5. Procurement of a state office for NANS in the state secretariat.
6. Appointment of an SSA on students that will serve as a link between the governor and the students.
7. Implementation of the students transport scheme in the state to help students minimize cost of transportation.
His excellency is indeed God's sent to the students of Enugu state therefore We call on all students of Enugu state to put hands together and support the government of Enugu state so that at the end of the day Enugu will be the best amongst equals.
